Overview of Transition Team Meeting

On Thursday, September 13, 2012, the Transition Team conducted its seventh meeting.  Our meetings now run two and one half hours.  Reports were received from the Communications, ID Church Name, Serve, Connect and Plan of Funding Focus Groups. All of the Focus Groups have begun to meet on a regular basis, and Transition Team members receive status reports from each Focus Group prior to each of the twice monthly Transition Team meetings.

Since beginning our work, the naming of our new church has probably generated the most interest.  That Focus Group first met in August and will meet again on September 19.  It is hoped that the recommendation that they will be making to the Transition Team will be able to be shared at the Congregational Meeting scheduled for Sunday, September 23, from 5 to 6 pm at First.

The Connect Focus Group presented a recommendation for a unified prayer chain.  Currently, each campus uses a different process to raise prayer concerns among its members.  The unified prayer chain will be initiated with an email emanating from one of the church offices as soon as the concern has been heard and permission has been given to notify members.  Each email recipient will agree to make one phone call to someone without email who wants to be involved.  Yearly, all congregation members will be invited to join the prayer chain for the coming year.

The Plan of Funding Focus Group recommended that Allison and First join the Stewardship Campaign being planned by Grace for this fall.  Additionally, it recommended that individuals who wish to begin making donations for a new building be told to proceed after a process has been developed for doing so. 

The Transition Team also read and reviewed all of the responses which had been received from those members of our three congregations who completed the Transition Team Questionnaire which had been distributed in June.  We appreciated hearing from those of you who responded.

In order to encourage as much participation as possible at our Congregational Meeting, it was decided that all attendees will receive 3 x 5 cards on which to write questions/comments.  Pastor Jim will chair this meeting and address as many of these questions as time permits.
